Moving Forward

After ten years teaching in the same school, I decided to move on. Not to another school but to volunteering & recycling & day dreaming full time. I'm going to miss students' smileys, laughter & hugs, class projects, organizing yearbook, brainstorming ideas, collaborating with friends, end of year show, sport days, class party. But I'm glad I can say goodbye to going up & down the 4th floor, predictable routines & time table, morning traffic, professional development on Saturdays. Saying goodbye has never been easy.

Eye Spy

Editing picture has never been this fun. Who needs fancy and pricy photo editing software when you  can go online, do a few click here and there and voila! Instant awesomeness guaranteed. My favorite is PicMonkey {Intriguing name; Does it mean it's so easy even a monkey could do it? Or does it mean one might act giddy like a monkey when using it? In my case it was the latter}. Another fave is Pixlr Both have effects to make photos look retro and vintage which make an old soul like me bubbly.

Saucony vs Brooks

I didn't realize drawing & design are a major deciding factors when I shop. The other day I went to buy running shoes; after carefully inspecting quality of several brands I was down to Saucony and Brooks. Both were very comfy and were in my favorite color; it took me forever to decide. Good thing I was alone otherwise Dena would have made me choose with an "eeny meeny miny mo". Then this resourceful sales person lady brought me the box of the shoes and I instantly made a decision without missing a blink. I think I was more interested in the box; my head was spinning with ideas :-)

Panthera Tigris Sumatrae

Do you know that there are only 400 Sumatran tigers left? {latest status: endangered} Do you know that Sumatran tiger is the smallest compare to the other tiger species? Do you know that they are the only species who are excellent swimmers? Grade 3 students, teachers and parents joined forces to host S.T.A.R {Sumatran Tiger At Risk} to launch grade 3 comic: How The Mole Save The Tiger {click here to read the comic online}. All profits from the event went to WWF Indonesia to save Sumatran tigers.

The Apple Tree & The Apple #2

My daughter Dena used my stuff to create a presentation for her IT class; my used cardboard, my buttons, my ribbons, my old cassette, my label maker. The brown tape is all hers though. This time the apple fall pretty close to the tree.

Paper Cut

DIY print project is easy with digital printing these days. You are not required to print a minimum number of pages, you can print 1 or 10 or 100 in retail printing. As long as you have a little imagination & remarkable cutting skill you can make anything. Yes, cutting skill is crucial in DIY project. A steel ruler, an extra sharp cutter & a glass top table are a must. {All drawings for the cover of the sketchbook are done in KidPix by grade 3 students}

Reckless Giving

I can not help but giving every time a street kid begging for money. I actually thought giving is better than not giving at all. Until I learn that by giving I am actually rewarding and encouraging them to stay on the street. Turn out I am part of the problem. {*sigh}

Tick Tock

Time is funny; you can kill it, borrow it, race against it, be ahead of it, buy it, bide it, waste it, steal it and you could even make it fly! There are hundreds of expressions using time. I can't believe my daughter is leaving for college this year, time sure flies when you are having fun. Soon I will have nothing but time on my hands and I  have to figure out 1000 ways to kill time. I'm going to be a professional day dreamer. Life is awesome!

Level UP!

Little Lights #2

The last time I received postcards was way back when I was small. When my mom traveled around the world with my dad, she would send my siblings & I postcards with cool stamps and awesome pictures on the cover of the postcard. For me they were the highlights of her trip: filling in her void; hugging me tight with warm and fuzzy feeling. Funny how I still get the same feeling after all these years from a postcard. I am such an old soul lost in e-world and i-world.

{Not even a complete address and yet they reached my home. I underestimate Indonesian postal service}
