Bull's Eye

One lovely Saturday evening service in IES. A short break for some announcements on the big screen about this and that. A young couple behind me started bickering about something. The young lady gave the young guy quite an earful of harsh words, the young guy retorted in a quiet but equally harsh tone. Good things the announcements only took less than five minutes. And the first thing Pastor Dave spoke about was how often we defined our well being by relying on our not so reliable feelings. Just because you feel it, it does not always necessarily mean it's the truth. Ouch!

Holy Jam

One moody Wednesday. Breezy chilly wind early in the morning. Hot and humid mid morning. Wet and windy afternoon. Wednesday, make up your mind! Look what you did to Jakarta. Traffic here and there and everywhere. I was about to loose my cool when an ambulance with a loud siren inching up slowly. On its back door this was written On The Way To Heaven. I laughed out loud and completely forgot to get mad. I wanted to follow it to find where heaven was, but I was sandwiched between a cargo truck and a minivan. ;-)

On Cloud Nine

It finally happened! After my social experiment with greetings, today someone greeted me a good morning first! Not only that he noticed this morning I didn't ride my bike, he gave me a thumb up and some cheering words! Woohoo! What a way to start a day!

Art Run #4: Eyeless Fish

It has been awhile since my last long run. I lost my motivation somewhere between a triathlon training, a yearbook project and a little melt down here and there courtesy of Life. To jump start my running inner self I decided to do a new Art Run this morning. My initial plan was to run an ambitious beautiful napoleon fish. I ended up with an anonymous fish with no eye. Not bad lah! Tomorrow is another day.

Attitude Of Gratitude

Thank you left heel. If it weren't for your stubborn, nagging & whiny injury I wouldn't have discovered that I can do a triathlon. I wouldn't have crossed path with inspiring triathlon troop. When life throw you lemon make lemonade. Sparkling mint lemonade!

Indonesia Etc.

"Surabaya did not terrorise the 'little people', did not threaten punishment or impose unenforceable fines on people who litter. No, the city did something singularly un-Indonesian. It worked through incentives, rewarding people for doing the right thing rather than punishing them for doing the wrong thing. And it showed that incentives can work at the community level. Collectivist culture without feudalism. Perhaps it should become Indonesia next Etc." Elizabeth Pisani

Happy 21 Baby!

If we didn’t have birthdays, you wouldn’t be you. If you’d never been born, well then what would you do? If you’d never been born, well then what would you be? You might be a fish! Or a toad in a tree! You might be a doorknob! Or three baked potatoes! You might be a bag full of hard green tomatoes. Or worse than all that…Why, you might be a WASN’T! A Wasn’t has no fun at all. No, he doesn’t. A Wasn’t just isn’t. He just isn’t present. But you…You ARE YOU! And, now isn’t that pleasant! Today you are you! That is truer than true! There is no one alive... ...who is you-er than you! Shout loud, “I am lucky to be what I am! Thank goodness I’m not just a clam or a ham Or a dusty old jar of sour gooseberry jam! I am what I am! That’s a great thing to be! If I say so myself, HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO ME YOU! Dr. Seuss
